If you said Apple iOS, you would be wrong! You ask, "How can this be true? Everyone I know has an iPhone?" Apple definitely does dominate the market when it comes to hardware, making up for 28% of all smartphones!
Even though this is the case Google's Android operating system accounts for 43% of U.S. smartphones. One reason for this is only iPhones can operate on the Apple operating system where as Samsung, HTC, Motorola, etc. are all making phones that operate on the Android system. Apple's operating system,(iOS) is a pretty far second with 28% of the operating system market share. RIM Blackberry accounts for 18% and Windows Mobile 7%.
What does all this mean? Simply as developers or business owners we need to give the Android OS the attention it deserves.
